CHICAGO - Shohei Ohtani blasted a three-run home run, his 18th homer of the season, to power the Los Angeles Dodgers to a 9-4 win over the Athletics on Monday.
The two-way star went deep in the sixth inning and finished 2-for-5 with three RBIs at Sutter Health Park.
Ohtani is scheduled to take the mound in the finale of the three-game series against the Athletics on Wednesday.
In other Major League Baseball action, Seiya Suzuki had two hits, including a walk-off single, to lift the Chicago Cubs past the San Diego Padres 3-2.
Suzuki doubled to left field in the fourth inning and drove in a run with a sacrifice fly in the fifth at Wrigley Field.
In the decisive ninth, the Japanese slugger smashed a game-winning single to left field to give Chicago the victory, finishing 2-for-4 with two RBIs.
His Japanese teammate, Shota Imanaga, threw 6-1/3 innings of two-run ball, allowing nine hits and striking out four. The left-hander, however, did not factor in the decision.
